EnABLE™ applies directly in your current workflow and at every stage of field life. You get a lot more from all your simulation activities with EnABLE™ supporting systematic revisions to any aspect of the model, even facilities settings for optimization. Each simulation run adds to a statistical analysis. This both helps to get a history match more quickly, delivers confidence intervals around predicted reservoir performance, and provides the basis for choosing global optima for facilities alternatives or operational settings.
By making economic calculations within EnABLE™ and taking uncertainties into account, optimum bid valuations, optimum new field development plans and optimum operational plans can all be identified while properly recognising both business and technical constraints and the uncertainties involved.
EnABLE™ opens up effective new ways of applying reservoir simulation. It provides assisted history matching, helping you manage your history match, updating the match modifiers for you intelligently and submitting runs for you while you are away from your desk; work commonly speeds up by a factor of 4 or more.
Engineering time is liberated to develop an understanding of reservoir mechanisms and explore new ideas. Measures of the relative impact of uncertain parameters on production behaviour lead to better configured plans. The same EnABLE™ supported workflow consistently improves results at every stage of field life.
EnABLE™ provides the framework for understanding uncertainty in your model. By linking statistical analysis to the power of modern simulators it further enhances understanding.
The benefits of EnABLE™ apply throughout the life cycle of a field. More integrated business decisions can be made with EnABLE™ providing estimates of uncertainty in every result. Apply EnABLE™ from as early in the life of a field as the bid analysis for new exploration acreage.
EnABLE™ preserves a record of all the simulation runs made during each investigation and measurements of the likely distribution of production outcomes. The EnABLE™ statistical model describes the relationship between selected reservoir properties and reservoir performance.
As new data is acquired uncertainty about an asset is progressively constrained but some always remains, until eventually the field is abandoned. Even then, the field may be restarted at a later date.
Once a field is discovered a design basis is required. For oil fields, or gas fields scheduled to produce for LNG, this design basis is usually the most critical decision made in the field life, yet in most cases there are great uncertainties. It makes sense to investigate them as thoroughly as the data allows.
Whenever possible, dynamic data should be included in planning. Usually this is achieved through history matching of observed production behaviour. This data assimilation calibrates the model to fluid flows and, particularly, to the economically important hydrocarbon flows. History matching can begin as early as modeling of initial well tests or early production system responses.
History matching is so time consuming a process using traditional approaches that many engineers have focused on getting a history match as a goal in itself. In fact, the purpose of history matching is to maximise the quality of model predictions made during production forecasting.
EnABLE™ supports the entire history matching process, automating the tedious tasks, while encouraging the engineer to direct the activity and apply judgement in the process. Observed data is loaded and plotted against the results of multiple simulation runs, each parameterized and managed conveniently by EnABLE™.
Once the engineer sees that history matches appear to be achievable, EnABLE™’s power to examine uncertainty in forecasts is ready to be unleashed. Simply by extending the simulation to include the prediction scenarios and continuing history matching the model starts to explore the range of production behaviour that can be expected.
As new observations are taken in the field, existing history matches can be updated by introducing them with EnABLE™ and systematically updating the existing history match.
